Dr. Sushner is a native of Brooklyn, NY< and has resided in the Washington Metropolitan area for 38 years. He has been married for 34 years and has five grown children.
Dr. Sushner received his Bachelor of Science from Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY; he went on to Howard University, College of Dentistry where he graduated with “distinction” and developed a strong passion for studying orthodontics, in particular adult orthodontics. In 1974 he entered a two year orthodontic residency program.
In 1976, Dr. Sushner published his first paper on “Black Profile,” which later became the norm for evaluating and treating Black patients and is still taught in orthodontics schools around the world.
In addition, he was the first orthodontist to have a practice that was predominantly adults (95%) and the first orthodontist to open an office in downtown Washington, DC, in more than a quarter of a century. Dr. Sushner specializes in orthodontics for adults and children; his patients’ age group is 3 to 89.5 yrs old.
When patients come to his office, a nice friendly staff greets them. The atmosphere is serene with everyone treated with respect and compassion.
